Import feature overview

Import feature allows you to import, synchronize, update, delete and perform other actions on the markers data on the given Deskradar instance. Actions that can be performed on the markers are determined by the type of markers you import.

For details on importing different marker types, please refer to the respective user guide:

User access

Import/export features are available to users with roles Administrator or Editor.

CSV data

To perform a data import, it is required that you provide the actual data, that needs to be reflected on the given Deskradar instance. Data must be formatted as CSV (comma-separated values) and uploaded to Deskradar a plain-text file in Unicode (UTF-8) encoding.

To create and modify CSV files, you can use Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets or other software with spreadsheet editing capabilities of your choice. For more information on how to work with CSV using you software, please refer to the manual provided by your software vendor.

Download example

The easiest way to get started with preparing data for the import is to download the CSV template.

  1. Click on Import/Export icon in the sidebar
  2. Click Start Import button
  3. Select the marker type in Select marker type you'd like to import selector
  4. Click Download CSV template button

Example CSV contains the columns for the data you can import for the marker type selected in step 3.

Column mapping

You can use any column names in your CSV data. However to match those columns with Deskradar marker attribute names, column mapping is required. You can map your CSV columns to the corresponding marker attributes after you upload your CSV file in the import user interface.

You can tell the import to skip certain columns by selecting Skip in the attribute dropdown in the column mapping user interface.
